I am currently reading Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. It is such a great book that I feel will change how I approach life from here forward; from how I handle my personal goals to how I raise my children. It’s one of those books where if you had your highlighter out and ready to take note of some good advice and “aha” moments, the book would be one big highlighter mess!
We learn about the two mindsets in this book, “Fixed” and “Growth”. With the fixed mindset, Dweck states there is “an urgency to prove yourself over and over”. And with the growth mindset, people “believe that a person’s true potential is unknown (and unknowable”. The good thing, if we have a fixed mindset…we are teachable! We can work on this and develop a growth mindset, with some effort.
