My family and I love this time of year and a good way to really soak in the fall splendor is to go
walking exploring on trails. This allows us to have some good family time, have the kiddos burn off some of their energy, and it is FREE. Win, Win & Win!
To help keep our boys entertained while walking on a trail, we usually do some geocaching. My husband has this app downloaded on his phone which helps us locate the geocaches that are hidden nearby. It is a lot of fun. For our boys, it’s like going on a treasure hunt!
Here are a couple more fun things you might like to try the next time you go walking on a trail:
I know I have seen a lot of these popping up along trails and throughout communities, the Little Free Libraries . These are little boxes that are full of books where anyone is welcome to take a book from and bring a book back to share. How great is that!
Or…you and your family could go letterboxing. We recently found out about this activity but it sounds similar to geocaching, just a little more involved. To do this, you’ll need a “trail name”, rubber stamp, sketch pad, a compass, plus a couple other items.
