My family just returned from a mini-vacation in Chicago.  Our hotel was downtown which made it nice being able to walk around and check out the sites.  It was honestly a fantastic time!  Prior to getting there, I was concerned about finding restaurants where my whole family can find something to eat off the menu.  I am following the AIP diet and my 7 yo son has several food sensitivities, including chicken and dairy.

I don’t know why I was worried.  Come to find out there are several restaurants in the city that rock the “support local & promote sustainability” way.  There tends to be a lot less junk needlessly added in the food at these kind of restaurants.  AWESOME!

Wondering where we ate?  Here are a couple of the restaurants:

We had dinner at the LYFE Kitchen.

I had their green smoothie, baked sweet potato fries & roasted brussel sprouts and squash.

For breakfast we had a nice breakfast at the Local Root restaurant.  I REALLY liked this place and my family had nice full tummies after eating there.

I had a pot of hot green tea, bacon w/ a plate of sautéed zucchini and squash.

So fresh and tasty!

A pic of my boys acting like they were going to pay for the meal at Local Root.
